I know it's been yonks since I'd last updated. Been awfully busy, to the point of a mental breakdown. Just came back from backpacking down south. Awesome. Simply awesome. One of the best times of my life, ever. Here's the low-down on what went on.
Thursday 22 09 05
Amy and I caught the morning bus down to Margaret River. Weather was cloudy and quite dreary. We reached MR at 2ish and checked into Innestown Backpackers. Instanteously drawn to the 2 goodlooking guys working at the backpackers. Both canadians, blonde John and J.P.[you'll see in a min why blonde John is called blonde John] Took a stroll along the shops and spent the night bumming away in the backpackers watching free dvds.
Friday 23 09 05
Got up, felt lazy and spent the rest of the day bumming in the backpackers in our pJs. Weather was sunny with a moderate level of breeze. Walked along the shops - visited the Fudge factory, the lolly shop and had tea at Surf Cafe. Spent more time bumming [ah, this is life] at the backpackers. At night, this goodlooking canadian dude, Jamie [canadians are HAUGHT!], asked us if we wanted to join them at the tav. Offer accepted and we trooped to the tav with Jamie and this holland dude whose name I cannot remember but it sounds like Oreo. Met up with the other backpacker guys at the tav: some other holland dude called Roy, 2 UK dudes Chris and nameless and Melbourne John [see, thats why blonde John is called blonde John]. Drank up some stuff, though not much of a beer fan and I'd hit off pretty well with Melbourne John [who actually works up north in WA]. Got into some bump and grind with Melbourne John. I like him alot. But thankfully I didn't drink enough to make poor decisions.
Saturday 24 09 05
Left Margaret River and headed to Busselton. Sad to leave the blokes. The weather was cloudy and pretty chilly. When we reached Busselton, realised the backpackers were full and settled for a nearby motel, which set us back financially, only to find out our motel room is in between other motel rooms occupied by like a busload of guys, though they hardly seem like they were out of high school. Scandaless. Spent the day walkin around, had an awesome lunch at Equinox cafe [price also very nice] and went out to conquer the 2km jetty. By now the sky was clear and the weather was nice, a tad too hot. Got back to the motel and slept. The lack of sleep was taking a toll on the both of us. Woke up at 10ish pm and headed out to check out the nightlife. Found a pub which was having karaoke night. Not too bad, pretty spontaneous crowd. Some aboriginal mix tried to hit on Amy. Poor girl. The pub kicked everyone out at 12 midnight. Such a dead town.
Sunday 25 09 05
Opted for a low-key day. Ate at maccas and took strolls before catching the arvo bus to Bunbury. Checked into Bunbury backpackers [this time, i was smart enough to book it in advance] and to my pleasant, or maybe not so pleasant surprise, ran into Melbourne John and the UK dudes. Melbourne John disappointed me. I thought he was the mose decent looking and perhaps I was wrong. Watched the guys play soccer - the weather was sunny yet windy. Quite chilly. Headed back to the backpackers where I met this guy called Mitchell. Amy reckons he looks like a sleazeball. But I guess, after knowing him, he's got such a sad life story and it's kinda remarkable he's still got that drive to have a decent life. Shot pool with him, drank crapload of bourbon. Befriended this single mum, Melissa and her daughter Heather in the process. Heather thinks the world of me, she's only 9. Had severely overworked my liver and by night time, I was puking blood. Stayed out till about 3.30am, but didn't join the UK dudes at the pub even though they had asked me to earlier. Couldn't get any sleep.
Monday 26 09 05
Didn't sleep so met up with one of the guys working at the backpackers at 7ish in the morning while in the kitchen. Engaged in some really interesting convo with him. His name is Rob. really laid-back humorous guy.
We decided to extend our hols by another day. Weather was the most awesome ever. Perfect. Sunny and warm with light breezes. Went to the Dolphin Bunbury Discovery Centre but didn't see any dolphins. Walked around, took photos and laid on the grass while listening to the crashing of waves against the rocks. I love this life. Went back to the backpackers to chill. Had a stay-in on the last night as the weather was beginning to foul up. Watched movies with the pple and turned in for the night at 11ish, too tired to feel anything. I dread leaving.
Tuesday 27 09 05
Woke up, chatted with this hottie in the common lounge as I was waiting to check out. The name's Tim and he came from the eastern states to study in Fremantle but never quite made it to Fremantle. He stayed in Bunbury and now works here. He is really really smiley and funny!! Haha. Went out with Amy to the shops, since they were finally open after a long weekend. Weather was abso-freaking-lutely freezing. It was like a mini hurricane out there and we were almost blown away!! Dead serious. There's this awesome shop near the cinema. Saw this freakin amazing bikini top that is soooooooooooooooooooo cheeky-monkey [only some people will know what that means]. Gosh! Wanted to get it. Costs $80 so forget it. Amy got some stuff and we headed down to the shopping centre. Kinda pathetic but it's ok. Decided to head back to the backpackers and continued watching some stuff with the UK dudes. Chris told me they were moving to Perth city, Cottlesloe in the next couple days. I wonder if I'd see them again. We caught the evening bus back and reached Perth at 9pm.
Overall, this is one of the best trips I'd ever had. I don't know if Amy will agree to it. She probably found it too boring. But it was a trip much needed and deserved for myself - to relax, chill and regain my sanity. Made so many friends - friends that I might not ever see again though. Chad said the trip did me good. I reckon hey. I wish I could have stayed longer as my heart is still down south. Only time will tell if I'd return to Bunbury anytime soon.
This goes out to the people I'd met on the trip - blonde John, J.P, Jamie the canadian aviation businessman [all 3 being hotties], Oreo the fire fighter, Chris the specs guy and his nameless sidekick, Roy, Melbourne John who looked decent but isn't, Rob the thai kickboxer, Melissa, Heather, Mitch, Tim the hottie who never reached his school, the awfully hot guy who separated from his wife whose name I got but cannot remember, the bald indian dude and his amazingly goodlooking friend whose names I never caught.
